A wedding is not one event but a run of them, and each night asks something different from the entertainment. A sangeet needs someone who can hold a room full of relatives of every age. A cocktail evening wants atmosphere rather than volume. The reception has to carry a dance floor to the end of the night. We work with artists across India who understand those differences and plan their sets around them, and every artist on this page has performance footage you can watch before you commit to anything.

How to choose the right artist for your wedding

Start with the function, not the artist. Work out which nights need live music, which need a DJ, and which need an anchor to hold the running order together - that single decision narrows the field faster than anything else. Ask to see footage from an event of similar size, because a performer who is excellent in a 60-guest garden setting is not automatically the right choice for 600 people in a banquet hall. Check what the artist brings and what you are expected to provide, since sound, lighting and stage requirements vary widely and are a common source of last-minute cost. Confirm how long they perform for and whether that includes breaks. And if your wedding is a destination, agree travel and accommodation in writing early, as this is where most disputes begin.

Who to book for each function

For the sangeet, a DJ who knows Bollywood and Punjabi music well is the safest choice, often paired with a dhol player for the entry. Dance troupes work well here too, either performing or leading family choreography. For the mehndi and haldi, acoustic singers and small live setups suit the daytime mood better than a full sound system. Cocktail evenings favour a live band, a solo singer with a guitarist, or a Sufi act if you want something less predictable. The reception usually calls for a DJ who can read a crowd and shift between genres as the night goes on. An anchor is worth considering for any function with a formal running order, speeches or ceremonies - they keep things moving so the family does not have to.

Budget guidance

Wedding entertainment in India spans a very wide range, and where you land depends on the artist's profile, the city, the date and how long they perform. Solo singers and smaller acoustic setups sit at the accessible end. Established DJs and full live bands sit considerably higher, particularly on peak-season dates in November, December and February, when the best artists are booked months ahead. Destination weddings add travel, accommodation and often an extra day's fee. The most reliable way to get an accurate figure is to send us your date, city and function list - we come back with artists who fit your budget rather than a generic rate card.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book a wedding artist?

For peak season — roughly November to February — three to six months is sensible, as the most in-demand artists are taken early. Outside peak season, four to six weeks is usually enough. If you have a specific artist in mind, book as soon as your date is fixed.

Do artists provide their own sound and lighting?

It varies. Most DJs travel with their own setup. Live bands often bring instruments but expect the venue or you to provide the PA and stage. Always confirm this in advance, because assuming it is included is one of the most common causes of unexpected cost.

Can one artist cover multiple wedding functions?

Yes, and it usually works out better. Booking the same DJ or band across the sangeet, cocktail and reception means less coordination for you and often a better overall rate than booking separately.

Do you cover destination weddings?

Yes. We arrange artists for weddings across India, including destination venues in Goa, Udaipur, Jaipur and the hills. Travel and accommodation are agreed upfront and written into the booking.

What happens if the artist cancels?

Tell us immediately. We work with a wide roster, and finding a replacement of a similar standard is far easier through us than trying to source one yourself days before the wedding.

Can we hear or see the artist before booking?

Yes — every artist profile on this site has performance video. If you want to see something specific, such as a particular genre or a similar-sized event, ask and we will try to arrange it.
